Make an adult or child’s kuspuk or snowshirt. Learn how to easily gather
long ruffle pieces, as well as several easy options for beautiful trims. Even seasoned seamstresses will
learn some new skills based on industry sewing techniques. Note: This is for the pullover summer
kuspuk made from cotton fabric or thin-wale corduroy, NOT an insulated parka.
EITHER Kuspuk Pattern by Lois OR Jodie’s Studio Kuspuk Pattern
Fabric, thread, trim, and notions according to pattern requirements
Child’s pattern: ½ yard of ¼” elastic recommended
Minky fabric NOT recommended for beginning sewers
General sewing notions, including pins, seam gauge, measuring tape, fabric shears
Water soluble basting glue
Water soluble or chalk marker that will show up on fabric
Gathering or ruffling foot (optional)
Sack lunch for Saturday
Purchase fabrics and trims according to pattern requirements.
Wash, dry, and press fabric.
If trims contain cotton, soak in hot water to pre-shrink.
Trace off or cut out appropriate size pattern (if you really do not know which to choose, bring pattern to first class and I can help there.)
